The project PAC 2028 

PAC is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS) until 2028. The aim of the funding is to ensure the long-term development of PAC and to continuously expand the tool both technically and functionally so that it will continue to be available free of charge for checking accessible PDF documents in the future.

Cooperation partners:

• BFIT-Bund (Federal Monitoring Agency for Accessibility of Information Technology)
• Hilfsgemeinschaft der Blinden und Sehschwachen Österreichs (Austrian Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired)

Further development is already planned with PAC 2027 and PAC 2028. Both versions build on the advances made in PAC 2026 and bring new features for accessibility testing. These include an accessible user interface, a Mac version, and further improvements to AI testing.

An initial prototype version of PAC 2027 will be presented at axes4 Day in March 2026, one of the most important events for document accessibility.
